
Clinical Document Improvement Specialist

We are seeking an experienced
Remote Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Specialist
to support accurate and compliant clinical documentation in an acute care setting. This role requires a strong clinical background combined with expertise in documentation improvement, regulatory compliance, and EMR systems. The ideal candidate will reside in the NY or Tri-State area and have a solid understanding of inpatient documentation standards and reimbursement methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Review clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and reimbursement guidelines
Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation and improve overall quality
Apply knowledge of documentation improvement and rehabilitation standards to optimize patient records
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and third-party payer requirements
Utilize EMR systems and documentation tools to track and support improvement initiatives
Provide feedback and education to healthcare providers on documentation best practices
Monitor and maintain data integrity within documentation systems
Support quality improvement initiatives and audits
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required (bachelor’s in nursing preferred)
Clinical licensure required: RN, NP, PA, or Physician background
Minimum 5 years of recent acute care hospital experience and/or Clinical Documentation Improvement experience required
Strong experience working within EMR environments required
Knowledge of regulatory and third-party payer requirements related to documentation improvement
Familiarity with 3M Encoder preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred
Must reside in New York or the Tri-State area
Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance
Important Details:
27-week contract position
Shift is 8 hrs/day (8 AM - 4 PM), 40 hrs/week
This is a fully remote position
Pay Range: $60 - $63 per hour
Must reside in New York or the Tri-State area
