The role of Chief Data Scientist requires an AI leader with experience in building production-grade language model platforms within federal spaces. This individual will lead a segment of the AI research team and collaborate with government agencies on projects in defense, cybersecurity, robotics, and human language technology. Essential responsibilities include providing technical leadership for machine learning and NLP models, working with various machine learning and engineering teams to develop and deploy models, overseeing new projects for business functions and product development, and advising C-suite executives on data science direction. The position is based in the DC area and entails collaboration across diverse technical teams. The successful candidate must possess a Top Secret Clearance, with a preference for those having TS/SCI Poly. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Computer Science or a related STEM field. Experience in developing scalable machine learning models in federal environments, along with team management, is required. Proficiency in Python coding is essential to support team efforts, and comfort with working alongside executive teams to pitch new concepts and secure buy-in is crucial. Familiarity with natural language processing, defense, or cybersecurity, as well as experience with large language models, generative AI, and AI agents, is preferred.
