Casthouse Metallurgical Engineer – Aluminum Alloys
We’re looking for a
Casthouse Metallurgical Engineer
with Aluminum Casting & Extrusion experience for our client’s operation in the greater Dallas, TX area.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
10+ years of experience in metallurgy & casthouse
5+ years of aluminum extrusion experience
Strong knowledge of soft aluminum alloys, billet casting & remelt operations
Strong knowledge of heat treatment and metallurgical properties
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex metallurgical and process issues
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Experience with homogenization, quenching, and aging processes
Familiarity with metallurgical testing methods.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Materials Engineering or a very related degree.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Include:
Responsible for supporting all metallurgical aspects of the aluminum billet casting for the extrusion process, including alloy development, billet quality, process optimization, and product performance.
Provide metallurgical support for casthouse (remelt/billet) & extrusion operations.
Develop & optimize aluminum alloys to meet customer & application requirements.
Analyze and troubleshoot extrusion defects (surface, mechanical, dimensional)
Support billet casting, homogenization, and heat treatment processes
Establish and maintain process standards and metallurgical best practices
Lead/support root cause analysis & corrective actions for metallurgical quality issues.
Support new product development and qualification of new alloys or profiles
Collaborate with customers/internal stakeholders on technical issues & approvals.
