Job Title: Scientist II (In Vivo Pharmacology)
Location: Ridgefield, CT 06877
Duration: 24 months contract
Shift: 9am to 5pm
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking an Scientist II to support in vivo studies related to cardiometabolic and cardio-renal diseases. This role involves independently executing routine studies, analyzing experimental data, and contributing to the development and validation of rodent models. The position requires strong technical expertise, adherence to regulatory standards, and collaboration with cross-functional scientific teams in a fast-paced research environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently initiate and execute routine in vivo studies with minimal supervision
Interpret experimental outcomes and recommend next steps
Support development and validation of rodent models for cardiometabolic diseases
Perform literature reviews and apply scientific principles to experimental design
Propose and implement process improvements and new technologies
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
Record, analyze, and report data with high accuracy and integrity
Contribute to protocols, procedures, and scientific/technical reports
Ensure compliance with SOPs, regulatory standards, and safety requirements
Perform dosing procedures including oral gavage and IP/IV/SC injections
Conduct physiological monitoring and collect biological samples (blood, urine, tissues)
Perform functional assessments such as blood pressure measurement, telemetry, and metabolic studies
Process and analyze biological samples using techniques such as histology, ELISA, qPCR, and biomarker assays
Maintain accurate documentation including study protocols, animal records, and reports
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including pharmacology, pathology, and bioanalytics
Ensure compliance with IACUC protocols and ethical animal care standards
Present data in team meetings and support internal and external reporting
Perform physically demanding tasks including animal handling, standing for extended periods, and working in lab/vivarium settings
Use required PPE and support weekend work as needed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 2–3 years of experience in a relevant scientific discipline
Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO environments
Strong understanding of physiology, pharmacology, and cardio-renal disease biology
Hands-on experience with in vivo studies and laboratory techniques
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
