Legal Software Application Specialist and Trainer
with a minimum of five (5) years of experience for our Seattle office. This is a
hybrid position , requiring onsite presence two days per week, as well as additional in‑office time for new‑hire training and other purposeful business needs.
The Legal Software Application Specialist and Trainer
serves as a vital bridge between legal professionals and legal technology. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive technology training programs for attorneys and staff. You will play a critical role in onboarding new hires and driving the effective use of legal software to improve efficiency across the firm. Responsibilities include software application installation, configuration, maintenance, and support with end‑user training and assistance—particularly in specialized legal applications—to ensure optimal system performance and user adoption. To support a successful transition, there will be an opportunity to train directly with our current Senior Applications Support Specialist prior to their planned retirement in December 2026. This position works under the guidance and direction of the Firm’s IT Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development:
Working individually and with application consultants to create, maintain, and update training materials, user guides, and on-demand tutorials for legal applications.
Training Delivery:
Conduct in-person, virtual, and hybrid training sessions for new hires and ongoing development for our attorneys and staff.
System Specialization:
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on core legal systems. (See list of software applications below.)
AI Integration:
Train staff on approved AI-driven tools and resources.
Support & Troubleshooting:
Provide support and troubleshooting assistance to users, including root cause analysis and resolution of application-related issues.
Technology Adoption:
Collaborate with practice groups to understand needs and promote best practices for using legal tools. Work closely with IT Manager for approval and implementation.
Document Production : Assist legal assistants, paralegals and attorneys with documents, template and software application troubleshooting.
Software Application Maintenance : Together with IT colleagues, test, configure, provide release notes and upgrade approved software applications.
Vendor Management : Work with vendors for support and evaluating technology upgrades and training.
Software Product Feedback:
Provide product feedback to legal software providers to help drive product enhancements and improvements.
Qualifications:
Experience:
5+ years of experience in legal training or legal technology consulting.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in server software applications and web technologies.
Ai:
Demonstrated working knowledge of AI-powered tools and platforms.
Analytical Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to resolve integration and maintenance issues, together with IT colleagues.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; law firm experience is highly desirable.
Communication Skills:
Exceptional presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into easy-to-understand training for non-technical users.
