Position Summary
The
Vintage European Auto Technician
is a highly skilled automotive professional responsible for the assembly, restoration, repair, diagnostics, and validation of complex vehicle systems. This role spans all major automotive subsystems—including mechanical, electrical, fuel, and chassis—and involves advanced diagnostics, custom integration, and performance validation.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong independent problem‑solving ability, and a craftsmanship‑driven mindset. Experience with
classic European vehicles , particularly
Porsche , along with
EFI, Bosch fuel systems, and electrical diagnostics , is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle Build, Repair & Integration
Perform full vehicle tear-downs, assemblies, repairs, restorations, and upgrades
Execute subsystem and component-level work, including suspension, brakes, powertrain installation/removal, tire mounting and balancing, and interior installation/removal
Install custom, add-on, and specialty equipment using appropriate methods and locations
Diagnostics & Performance
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, fuel, and performance issues using advanced diagnostic tools
Test, evaluate, and validate vehicle systems and performance data
Conduct road tests to verify repair quality and system functionality
Collaboration & Planning
Collaborate with body, fabrication, interior, and project management teams to ensure system integration
Research, recommend, and source OEM, aftermarket, and custom parts
Anticipate project needs and proactively identify risks, parts requirements, and workflow impacts
Quality & Documentation
Perform comprehensive vehicle inspections and document findings and recommendations
Maintain accurate documentation of diagnostics, labor, and materials
Ensure all work meets Kellymoss quality, safety, and procedural standards
Additional Responsibilities
Follow all company policies, shop procedures, and safety requirements
Attendance is an essential function of the role
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma required
Formal technical training or equivalent hands-on experience in:
Automotive technology
Motorsports engineering
Advanced vehicle diagnostics
ASE certification preferred
Additional training in EFI, diagnostics, or Bosch fuel systems is highly desirable
Experience
6+ years of hands-on experience in motorsports, high-performance automotive, or specialty European shops
Strong experience with classic European vehicles (Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, VW/Audi preferred)
Proven experience with CIS fuel systems, carburetors, and electronic fuel injection
Bosch fuel system experience preferred
Familiarity with MoTeC and MFI systems is a strong plus
Fabrication experience a plus

Advanced knowledge of restoration and performance automotive systems
Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, fuel, and performance systems
Ability to work independently and solve complex technical challenges
High attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
Ability to evaluate engine/system data and apply corrective action
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to research and source specialized parts
Must supply professional-grade tools appropriate for workload
Valid driver’s license (required for road testing)
Fluent in English (verbal and written)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Environment
Office: Quiet, standard office setting
Shop: Low to moderate noise levels with occasional higher exposure
Exposure to temperature variations typical of workshop environments
Hearing protection may be required

Regular standing, walking, and use of hands/tools
Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs
Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, and balance
