
Unconventional Well Planning Geologist (Spring)

Opportunity Snapshot:
Compensation: $150/hour
Location: Spring, TX
Assignment Duration: 12 months+
Work Schedule: M-F / 40 hours+

Qualifications:
Master's degree in Geology preferred
8-12 years' experience (flexible on upper end) as a geoscientist in Oil & Gas
Minimum 5 years' experience in Unconventional Development
Mid-Advanced Unconventional Oil and Gas Experience (Midland Basin preferred)
Proficient in Petra, Kingdom and Petrel
Minimum 2 years' experience in active drilling operations
Experience in well planning/geologic operations
Data interpretation skills required
Strong communication skills and ability to work with multiple disciplines and groups
Responsibilities:
Correlate and refine target windows for horizontal well planning using subsurface interpretations, logs, and offset well data
Deliver well planning products including target maps, structure maps, cross sections, and target windows
Support drilling execution partners through pre‑spud planning and execution alignment
Identify local geologic variability and communicate execution risks and constraints
Incorporate offset well results and lessons learned to continuously improve well planning templates
Ensure execution learnings are incorporated back into development targeting decision
