
Purchasing Manager (Brockton)

Our client, a manufacturing organization, is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities and support the finance function. This role is responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials. The position is hands-on, with direct ownership of purchasing for the Brockton facility while helping drive improvements in processes and systems.
Responsibilities
Own day-to-day purchasing activities, including order placement and materials coordination
Develop and execute purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery timelines
Build and manage supplier relationships, including negotiating pricing, contracts, and service agreements
Review, process, and approve purchase orders to support production and operational needs
Partner with internal teams (operations, production, finance) to align procurement with business demands
Lead, mentor, and develop members of the procurement team
Manage procurement of raw materials, components, and production supplies
Utilize and enhance ERP/MRP systems to improve purchasing workflows, reporting, and data accuracy
Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, cost, or delivery
Analyze purchasing data to identify cost savings opportunities and process improvements
Ensure materials are sourced in accordance with customer and production specifications
Support inventory management efforts, including cycle counts and resolving discrepancies
Assist in standardizing and centralizing purchasing processes across locations over time
Qualifications
Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, or related field
3–5+ years of purchasing experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred)
Experience managing or mentoring team members
Ability to operate both tactically and with a process improvement mindset
Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
