About the Role
At Stapp Construction, we don’t just build projects, we build builders. As a Project Engineer, you’ll be on the front lines of our heavy civil and transportation projects, learning how complex infrastructure comes together from start to finish.

This is an entry level position designed for individuals who want to grow into a Project Manager role and take ownership of major public-works projects. You’ll assist with field coordination, project controls, cost tracking, and document management, while working alongside experienced project managers and superintendents who are invested in your growth. It’s hands-on, fast-paced, and the perfect starting point for someone ready to build a long-term career in construction management.

Key Responsibilities
• Support project controls to ensure compliance with contract requirements, budgets, and schedules.
• Review drawings, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and related documentation.
• Track production quantities and maintain accurate cost coding for financial reporting.
• Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to keep work on schedule and within scope.
• Manage material deliveries, verify quality and quantities, and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Partner with accounting on materials, equipment, and subcontractor invoicing.
• Assist with monthly cost forecasts, pay estimates, and revenue projections.
• Maintain project logs, reports, and documentation for compliance.
• Review and approve crew timecards.
• Learn the fundamentals of estimating, scheduling, and production analysis.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support project success.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and construction management software.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and detail oriented.

Preferred Skills

Software experience in ComputerEase, Primavera P6, B2W, Planswift, and Bluebeam, preferred but not required.
