General Summary:
The Manufacturing Training Specialist is a key site-level position that contributes to the achievement of the company's objectives by supporting and implementing new hire on-boarding and training, multi-skill training and continuous learning and development. This role is responsible for supporting company initiatives and EPIC values in the areas of safety, employee engagement, employee retention, and continuous improvement.
The Manufacturing Training Specialist will be responsible for the structured training of new and current manufacturing team members at their facility. The Manufacturing Training Specialist is also expected to be fully involved in the onboarding experience of manufacturing new hires. They will be certified to train in the classroom and on the shop floor when required by the company. They will deliver classroom content as it relates to the manufacturing training when required. The Manufacturing Training Specialist will maintain records of all assessments for new hires in their department and provide feedback to the training program manager on the manufacturing training team. The Manufacturing Training Specialist will play an active role in continuous improvements of training content by suggesting updates to the manufacturing process and providing documentation to the program manager on the manufacturing training team. The Manufacturing Training Specialist will be proficient in all of the job role certification programs for manufacturing and will be able to deliver and manage all manufacturing-related training programs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Core Roles
Deliver established, site-specific training sessions for all manufacturing employees (both direct and indirect), ensuring they acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their roles safely and efficiently, using classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job methods.
Oversee and manage job role certification processes, ensuring employees are properly trained and certified before starting new tasks, and that all certifications remain current and compliant with company and regulatory standards.
Provide classroom and on-the-job instruction covering standard operating procedures, equipment usage, safety protocols, and quality standards, adapting teaching methods to different learning styles and experience levels.
Monitor and document training progress, maintaining accurate records of all training activities, attendance, and individual progress, and using evaluation tools to measure training effectiveness.
Serve as a role model and mentor by demonstrating professionalism, teamwork, and respect, providing guidance and support to new hires and existing staff.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with site leadership, supervisors, HR, and other stakeholders to identify training needs, address skill gaps, and support overall site goals.
Participate in meetings and projects that impact training and employee development.
Coordinate with supervisors and department managers to schedule and deliver training, and to ensure smooth implementation and adoption of new processes or programs.
Support new hires through the onboarding and training process, addressing their needs and tracking satisfaction during the initial employment period.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
Track and evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions by gathering feedback, monitoring trainee performance, and suggesting improvements to keep training relevant and engaging.
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement by emphasizing safety in all training activities and encouraging adherence to best practices and quality standards.
Ensure all training documents, guides, and records are up to date, organized, and compliant with company policies.
Assess and communicate skill gaps for each department, and coordinate with leadership to address these gaps.
Additional Responsibilities
Assist with the rollout of new training programs, procedures, and process changes at the site.
Coordinate cross-training needs with supervisors and develop individual plans to execute and complete cross-training.
Support the implementation and communication of the training calendar and events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Bachelors Degree in education, engineering or related field or 5+ years of experience
Zeus Leadership Academy graduate or qualifies to attend the next available ZLA class. Meet minimum Work-keys, Attendance and Performance requirements for the role.
The ability to carry out oral and written instructions along with the ability to adapt to different situations
Must have excellent presentation skills
Ability to work within basic Microsoft suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, outlook and MS Teams
Must exhibit ability and willingness to digest complex concepts into easily consumed informative content
Demonstrates EPIC values in all interactions with new team members
Must have basic mathematical skills including addition subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and decimals. Must be able to read and write legibly.
