Job Summary:
Responsible for leading trade compliance matters at OpCo, ensuring adherence to import and export regulations.
Oversee trade compliance operations, implement and optimize trade compliance programs, and drive tariff mitigation strategies.
Proactively identify risks and opportunities, aligning trade compliance priorities with OpCo’s strategic initiatives.
Reports to the LSIG Director, Trade Compliance and is part of the Trade Compliance function within Legal & Compliance.
On-site role in San Jose, California.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day trade compliance operations for the U.S. and Canada and support global trade compliance activities.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Logistics, R&D, Quality, and other stakeholders to provide trade compliance expertise.
Lead tariff mitigation and duty-saving strategies including first sale, duty drawback, country of origin determinations, reconciliation, Section 232 assessments, and cost-avoidance initiatives.
Develop, implement, and continuously improve trade compliance programs, policies, SOPs, and internal controls for U.S., Canada, and Europe.
Identify, assess, and execute process improvements to enhance compliance efficiency, reduce regulatory risk, and drive cost reductions.

Essential Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred or 6+ years of experience in customs, export controls, or related field.
Proficient knowledge of U.S. export regulations: EAR, Census, OFAC sanctions, Commerce Control List, ECCN classification, export licensing, and restricted party screening.
Advanced expertise in U.S. customs regulations: customs valuation, HTS classification, country of origin determination, and import compliance requirements.
Working knowledge of Canadian and EU import/export regulations and their application in operational and regulatory decisions.
Demonstrated experience in implementing tariff mitigation strategies, including free trade agreements, duty drawback, reconciliation, and similar cost-reduction programs.

Preferred Qualifications:
U.S. Licensed Customs Broker (highly preferred).
Experience with Oracle, ERP systems, and data analytics/visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in life sciences manufacturing.
