The Role
As Laboratory Manager – Microbiology, you will lead daily operations, people, and performance while ensuring quality, efficiency, and customer commitments are consistently met.
You’ll balance scientific integrity, operational excellence, and team leadership in a dynamic, growing laboratory environment.
What You’ll Do
Lead and oversee microbiology lab operations with a focus on quality, safety, and turnaround time
Manage sample volumes, staffing, workflow, and resources to meet client commitments
Review, approve, and support interpretation of laboratory results
Ensure compliance with quality systems, SOPs, and regulatory requirements
Drive continuous improvement in testing methods, efficiency, and scalability
Partner with Client Services and Sales to onboard and support customers
Lead, coach, and develop laboratory staff; oversee hiring and performance management
Monitor labor, inventory, and operating expenses; support budgeting and cost control
Investigate non‑conformances and customer concerns; implement corrective actions
Participate in audits (internal and external) and cross‑functional initiatives
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field or 5+ years of relevant industry experience
Proven leadership experience in a laboratory or regulated environment
Strong communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to adapt in a fast‑paced, evolving operation
Flexibility to work weekends and overtime as needed
