Position Title:
Full-Time Comic Book Cleaner & Presser
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Comic Book Cleaner & Presser to join our team. This role is hands-on and detail-oriented, requiring expertise in dry cleaning, pressing, and restoration-free conservation techniques to improve a comic’s visual appeal and condition before grading or sale.
Responsibilities:
Perform dry cleaning of comic books, including removal of surface dirt, smudges, and other non-permanent defects.
Conduct pressing to reduce bends, non-color-breaking creases, and waviness.
Evaluate each book’s condition and determine appropriate cleaning/pressing approach.
Handle comics with extreme care, especially high-value and fragile items.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
Track workflow, deadlines, and condition changes in internal systems.
Collaborate with grading and sales team to ensure consistent quality standards.
Requirements:
Prior experience in comic book cleaning and pressing (professional or high-level hobbyist).
Strong understanding of grading standards and the impact of pressing/cleaning on grade improvement.
Excellent attention to detail and patience.
Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality.
Comfortable handling high-value collectibles.
Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work onsite full-time.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with CGC, CBCS, and other grading company submission guidelines.
Experience working in a comic shop, auction house, or collectible handling environment.
Knowledge of paper conservation techniques (non-restorative).
