Position OverviewThe 7D School Monitor provides on-vehicle support to our School Bus Drivers on routes that include students who require additional assistance including students with IEPs, students experiencing homelessness, students in DCF placement, or other individualized transportation needs. The Monitor helps ensure the safety, wellbeing, and appropriate care of every student on the route.Monitors are safety-critical personnel. The role requires patience, attentiveness, discretion, and a genuine commitment to student wellbeing. Monitors are a key part of how Transafe delivers on its mission of caring, dependable transportation.Key ResponsibilitiesStudent Safety & SupportAssist students entering and exiting the vehicle, including seat-belt, car-seat, and booster-seat assistance.Monitor student behavior and wellbeing throughout the ride.Provide appropriate calming, engagement, or support for students who need it.Ensure every student is delivered to the correct adult or designated drop-off location.Perform end-of-route vehicle check to confirm no student or belongings are left behind (child-left-in-vehicle prevention).Communication & DocumentationCommunicate with the Driver on any behavioral, medical, or safety concerns during the ride.Complete required attendance or incident documentation using the Transafe App.Report unusual events promptly to the Operations & People Engagement Lead.Follow McKinney-Vento, IDEA, IEP, and DCF confidentiality requirements at all times.Professionalism & ConfidentialityMaintain appropriate, respectful, and professional interactions with students, families, and school staff.Protect student confidentiality; never share student information outside the authorized circle.Represent Transafe positively in every interaction.Training & ReadinessComplete required Transafe training, including special-needs sensitivity, McKinney-Vento awareness, student behavior management, and emergency procedures.Maintain CORI and other required certifications current at all times.Success MeasuresPerformance in this role is measured against the following, tied to the Company's Strategic Plan:Zero child-left-in-vehicle incidents on supervised routes100% completion of required training within onboarding windowCORI and required documentation maintained currentPositive feedback from drivers, families, and school partnersQualificationsMust be at least 21 years old.Must pass a background check, CORI, drug test, and any other pre-employment screening requirements.Experience working with children particularly children with special needs is strongly preferred.Ability to patiently and calmly support students who may be navigating challenging circumstances.Ability to complete required documentation accurately via the Transafe App.Valid driver's license preferred but not required (Monitors are not drivers).Training provided; prior 7D or school-transportation experience is helpful but not required.What We're Looking ForPatient, caring, and respectful toward students of all backgrounds and needs.Calm and steady under pressure.Attentive, observant, and safety-focused.Professional, reliable, and punctual.Discreet in handling sensitive student information.Good communicator with drivers, families, and school staff.Comfortable with routines and able to follow procedures consistently.HoursPart-time.
