Job Duties
The DGS Office of Information Systems & Services (ISS) is seeking a skilled

Database Administrator

to support and enhance our enterprise Oracle and SQL Server environments. This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and long‑term planning of mission‑critical databases to ensure high availability, strong performance, and robust security.

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator who will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and integrity of our enterprise data systems—an essential component of DGS’s operational and strategic success.

Key Responsibilities

Installing, configuring, upgrading, and tuning Oracle and SQL Server databases to optimize performance.

Developing and implementing comprehensive backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

Ensuring database security and compliance with agency, state, and federal policies.

Collaborating with application development teams on data modeling, solution design, and testing.

Providing Linux system administration support and participating in on‑call rotations for critical systems.

Establishing and enforcing data standards, guidelines, and best practices.

Creating and maintaining detailed documentation for database configurations and operational procedures.

This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with two days of telework and three days onsite each week, following the successful completion of the required training period and in alignment with agency telework policy.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience as a Database Administrator working with Oracle 19c or Oracle 26ai.

Strong understanding of the database development lifecycle, including data modeling, database coding, testing, and implementation.

Working knowledge of high‑availability (HA) solutions, including support for Oracle RAC environments.

Knowledge of Windows Server operating systems.

Understanding of Change Management Control processes.

Familiarity with Oracle Advanced Security and encryption configuration.

Experience with Linux and Unix system administration.

Database administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
