Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Attorney to support both Special Education matters and General Counsel responsibilities. This role involves providing legal guidance, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and representing clients in education-related legal proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
Represent clients in special education hearings, mediations, and due process proceedings
Provide legal counsel on matters related to IDEA, ADA, and other education laws
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, policies, and legal documents
Advise leadership on legal risks, compliance, and governance matters
Handle general legal issues including employment law, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure legal alignment
Stay updated on changes in education law and New York state regulations
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in the State of New York
Experience in special education law and/or general counsel responsibilities
Strong knowledge of IDEA, ADA, and New York education regulations
Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines effectively
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience representing school districts or educational institutions
Experience handling due process hearings and IEP-related disputes
Background in public sector or education law
Work Schedule
Full-time / Contract (flexible based on client needs)
Pay rate: $60/hour
