The Senior Systems Engineer – Products business line is responsible for planning, leading and conducting system requirements development, system design, system integration, qualification, testing and oversight of the entire life cycle of our space computers portfolio. The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is part of the Engineering department based in San Diego, CA. This role is fully onsite.
Responsibilities
Work with a cross‑functional team of customers, engineers, and program management to develop a requirements verification and compliance matrix and ensure all customer requirements are satisfied with appropriate test methods, reports and artifacts.
Design and finalize top‑level system architecture and block diagrams, including partitioning of design and details of subassembly interconnections.
Define top‑level internal and external interfaces and control documents.
Ensure that the system architecture is realizable, testable, maintainable, supportable.
Perform optimization activities, analysis and trade studies.
Support integration, verification, and validation.
Communicate to the project and design engineers their requirement allocations, interface requirements and design budgets, including derived requirements to each board boundary.
Develop system‑level verification, qualification, acceptance and production test flow and test plans.
Develop coherent product specifications and design documentation.
Adhere to Voyager Technologies Standard Operating Procedures and quality standards.
Coordinate and provide technical leadership to engineering design teams during the development of space computer products.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in engineering or systems engineering with a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience.
Familiarity with requirements management software (e.g., JAMA, DOORS).
Leadership experience with a proven ability to drive projects and teams to successful completion.
Experience leading deeply technical product development.
Experience with flight‑software systems, ground‑system software and mission operations.
Experience in software development with emphasis on embedded systems.
Experience with embedded processors/microcontrollers such as ARM, PowerPC, x86, TI‑DSP, 8051, etc., using RTOSes or bare metal.
Experience with embedded Linux, including kernel configuration using Yocto or BuildRoot.
Experience with software configuration management and issue tracking tools.
Experience with agile development.
Experience with interface buses/protocols used in embedded systems such as PCI, USB, RS‑422/232, SPI, CameraLink, SpaceWire, Ethernet, CAN, etc.
Experience with programming, particularly in C, C++, Python or other scripting and test languages.
Travel, Physical and Government Mandated Requirements
Compliance with U.S. Government space technology export regulations (ITAR) is required. Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Compensation
The base salary range for this role is $145,000–$205,000. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonuses.
