Description
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributes to the delivery of safe, efficient and quality patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse (RN)
Prepares perioperative patient bays for patient care, including but not limited to donning linens to stretchers and recliners or operative beds
Assists with perioperative room turnover, cleaning, patient positioning, obtaining supplies/equipment and patient transportation for discharge
Assists in operating room turnovers, including the restocking of anesthesia supplies
Obtains vital signs and Point of Care (POC) testing as delegated by RN, and is responsible for quality control for POC testing
Documents in the electronic medical record (EMR), as needed including but not limited to scanning documents and opening new medical records
Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of all areas of the ASC, including unboxing and restocking of supplies, and monitoring expiration dates
Maintains and organizes linen inventory, transfers soiled linen to the designated area
Assists in routine unit operations as directed

Follows universal precautions
Crosstrained to other specialties performed within the department including but not limited to covering in patient reception and the sterilization of instruments
Maintains unit training requirements and attends staff meetings
Applies principles of infection control and safety, including proper handling, cleaning, and or disposal of equipment/supplies used in all cases
Adheres to all InterMed and ASC policies and procedures
Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies
Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Education:
High school graduate or GED equivalent
License/Certifications:
Current BLS certification required
Experience:
At least one year of CNA experience is required; previous experience in Ambulatory Surgery Center setting preferred
Ability to differentiate between clean, contaminated, and sterile areas
Proficient with Windows based computer applications and Electronic Medical Records
Accurate transcribing and data entry skills
Excellent typing and accurate documentation of patient encounter
Excellent communication skills and strong “Customer Service” orientation
Demonstrated ability to work independently with accuracy, in a fast-paced environment
