Description
The Logistics Assistant is responsible for helping the Logistics Manager with tasks essential to the smooth operation of Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound School (CSIOBS) programs and staff. The primary duties will include readying food, supplies, and equipment for a wide variety of programmatic needs, maintaining efficient gear issue/de-issue and repair systems, tracking and maintaining inventory, and assisting with ordering and restocking of medical supplies, food, and other consumables. Also, the Logistics Assistant will support the dorm supervisors with their responsibilities regarding food and cleaning supply requisition for staff housing. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for organization and efficient work habits, knowledge of contemporary outdoor gear and clothing, and a familiarity with a variety of outdoor pursuits such as camping, backpacking, kayaking, challenge course, etc., and attentiveness to detail.
Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the Logistics’ facilities
Perform routine inventories of course equipment, food, and medical supplies
Repair kayaks, stoves, sleeping systems, clothing, and any other equipment pertaining to the functions of programming
Attend all required program and operational meetings
Facilitate the gear de-issuing process at the end of program expeditions
Assist the dorm supervisors with food and cleaning supply ordering and stocking
Perform additional duties and responsibilities at the direction of the Logistics Manager
Work flexible hours based on the needs of expeditions in the field, including possible weekend hours dependent on program needs
Seasonal position working June 1, 2026 - August 21, 2026
Requirements
1-2 years relevant field experience
1-2 years relevant logistics experience
Experience with equipment repair and maintenance
Experience with backpacking and/or sea kayaking preferred
Experience working with diverse communities
Experience with food preparation and food service management a plus
Experience with sea kayak repair a plus
Experience with sewing a plus
High level of interpersonal and social competence
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
