Overview
The Dairy Clerk is responsible for keeping all store dairy and frozen cases stocked, clean, and organized during business hours. They assist customers as needed while maintaining a friendly, energetic demeanor and adhere to all procedural guidelines set by the Dairy department.
Responsibilities
Ensure cleanliness of dairy cases, storage area, and work area; clean shelves, products, floors, and remove hazardous debris.
Stock dairy cases, presenting, facing, filling, and organizing products according to departmental schematics and ensuring tag and pricing accuracy.
Examine rotation of all dairy products, discarding expired or spoiled items.
Respond positively to customer inquiries and assist with purchases, information, and product selection; sell and cross‑sell products.
Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
Monitor point‑of‑purchase signage and ensure availability of recipe cards, coupons, promotional material, and information on complimentary foods.
Operate equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
Use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.
Sustain a high level of product knowledge and product preparation.
Walk the department regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and clean appearance at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Restricted Tasks for Team Members Under 18
Using a knife other than safety cutters.
Using a ladder.
Operating garbage or cardboard compactor.
Operating any motorized or electronically powered equipment, including manual pallet jacks.
Working in coolers or freezers for prolonged periods.
Qualifications
At least 16 years of age.
Dependable, reliable, and able to work a flexible schedule including night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Show mutual respect for others and maintain a high‑level code of ethics within Sprouts’ culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Positive attitude and ability to interact with customers.
Good communication skills and ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
Perform repetitious activities, multi‑task, prioritize, and stay organized.
Vertically/horizontally transfer boxes/crates weighing between 40‑60 lbs. over distances up to 10 feet without mechanical assistance.
Walk up to 5 miles in an 8‑hour shift.
Use a 2‑step stool to access shelves for up to 1 step per 8 hours.
Apply safety, health, OSHA, and Weights & Measures regulations.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Pay Range
$19.15 – $24.90 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
