
Equipment Operator - Pipe Crew

Abernethy Contracting is looking for a Track Hoe Operator for our Pipe Division to join our team in the Charlotte area. If you have experience as a Track Hoe Operator in Pipe, take safety seriously and can adapt to a changing work site, this is right up your alley. The ideal candidate will enjoy leading, solving problems, working as part of a team and working towards a common goal.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with pipe crew in the excavation and installation process of laying pipe.
Ensure trench is excavated to the proper depth/grade.
Responsible for placement of water, storm and sanitary sewer pipe in the excavation.
Comply with all company and site‑specific policies and procedures.
Perform routine inspections, safety walk‑arounds, and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
Maintain equipment in good operating condition and report maintenance requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
2–5 years of experience operating a track hoe for pipe crews.
Experience placing storm pipe required. Experience placing water and sewer pipe a plus.
Sense of urgency and ability to respond to changing situations.
Ability to adapt, prioritize and complete projects in a changing construction environment.
Commitment to safe work practices.
Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Have the ability to travel within 60–75 miles of greater Charlotte Metro Area.
Must pass a pre‑employment background screening.
