Mechanical Engineer
cpp.ai, Phillipsburg, NJ, United States
We are working with a rapidly scaling, highly automated indoor manufacturing and agriculture company using advanced technology to produce premium consumer products year-round. Their operations rely on complex mechanical and automated systems, and they’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to help ensure safe, stable, and predictable performance at scale.
What You’ll Do
Lead the design, development and integration of electro‑mechanical systems and assemblies, applying core engineering principles, inclusive of specification generation, bespoke design of custom and off‑the‑shelf parts, material selection, prototyping, and validation.
Own reliability and uptime across facility infrastructure including conveyors, irrigation, water processing, HVAC, lighting, and electrical systems.
Diagnose and resolve issues using sensor data, logs, alarms, and hands‑on onsite investigation.
Perform root cause analysis and design, prototype, and implement durable engineering solutions.
Identify recurring failure modes and drive systemic improvements through design changes, redundancy, and operational controls.
Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Commissioning, and Maintenance teams to deploy fixes in live production environments.
Develop and refine reliability SOPs and influence future system design using real‑world performance data.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
5+ years in design and development, deployment or quality roles within automated industrial, manufacturing environments or equivalent.
Strong hands‑on troubleshooting experience across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatics, and controls systems.
Proven ability to perform root cause analysis and implement scalable solutions.
Proficiency with CAD and ability to read schematics, P&IDs, and OEM documentation.
Comfortable working in shop and production environments (machining, power tools, prototyping).
Strong communicator who works well cross‑functionally.
