Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee and manage large-scale construction projects in partnership with Los Angeles County, Los Angeles Airport, the City of Long Beach, and the Port of Long Beach. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field (required), a Master's degree (optional), and a proven track record in managing multimillion-dollar construction projects. Experience in design and preconstruction planning is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
Oversee all phases of construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet project goals.
Design and Preconstruction Planning
Review and provide input on project designs to ensure feasibility, compliance, and alignment with client requirements.
Collaborate with design teams to optimize functionality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of project plans.
Evaluate and integrate innovative construction methods and technologies.
Budget and Cost Control
Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and resources are allocated effectively.
Negotiate contracts and manage procurement processes for materials and services.
Compliance and Safety
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local construction regulations.
Promote a culture of safety by enforcing workplace safety policies and procedures.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor project teams, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
Resolve conflicts and facilitate communication among all team members.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns.
Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, clients, and community stakeholders.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (required).
Master's degree in a relevant discipline (optional).
Experience
Minimum of 7 years of experience managing large-scale construction projects, particularly those exceeding $10 million in budget.
Strong background in construction design, including preconstruction planning and analysis.
Experience working on projects for public entities, including counties, airports, cities, or ports.
Skills and Competencies
Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
Exceptional leadership, organizational, and decision‑making skills.
Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry best practices.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Qualifications
Familiarity with Los Angeles County, Los Angeles Airport, City of Long Beach, and Port of Long Beach construction protocols.
Professional certifications such as PMP, LEED, or CCM are a plus.
