PS Study Coordinator

Job Summary

Coordinates research and administrative activities in support of the institutional biobanking research initiative: Huntsman Cancer Institute-Total Cancer Care and the Oncology Research Information Exchange Network ( ORIEN).
Essential Functions

Coordinates patient identification, recruitment, obtaining informed consent, and other patient communications in multiple clinics at HCI. May need to be present to meet with scheduled patients as early as 6:00 am as needed.
Offers questionnaires to enrolled study participants regularly at the time of consent or via follow-up contact.
Maintains information in patient databases and may be responsible for data entry.
Recognizes and informs study team of protocol deviations and participates in documentation of deviations.
Assists the Total Cancer Care Program Manager with research and team related tasks.
Works closely with the HCI Biorepository and Molecular Pathology Shared Resource (BMP) and investigators and ensures proper collection and processing of specimens.
Is responsible to arrange coverage when not present.
Performs other responsibilities as required.
Work Environment and Frequency

Nearly continuously: Office and clinic environment. Seldom: exposure to oils or other cutting fluids.
Physical Requirements and Frequency

Nearly continuously: hearing, listening, talking, and wearing a mask. Often: repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, standing, sitting.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. IRB CITI Course in the Protection of Human Research subjects certificate obtained within six months of hire, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
Some departments may require IATA DGR training within six months.
This position is patient‑sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
