General Description
Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Worker will provide day-today building and grounds maintenance and repairs to all agency properties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provides grounds maintenance to all owned and managed properties in accordance with seasonal demands as directed.

Provides routine maintenance and repairs to all owned and managed properties i.e. minor electric, plumbing, painting and carpentry; plaster patchwork, lightbulb replacement, carpet cleaning, etc.

Provides new construction/general repair to all owned and managed properties.

Provides janitorial services to all owned and managed properties as directed.

Participates in the development of a seasonal calendar of routine maintenance tasks.

Assists with moving/relocating/transportation of household furniture and supplies.

Assists with moving/transporting donated appliances, furniture, household supplies.

Completes delivery and pick-up agency owned vehicles for maintenance on all agency owned vehicles.

Maintains agency inventories.

Properly stores and maintains agency equipment/supplies.

Properly disposes of agency supplies/equipment/furniture/recyclables.

Documents work order progress and completes work orders in AWARDS.

Completes all agency documentation as required.

Is responsible for on-call maintenance needs as required.

Adheres to all agency policies and procedures.

Completes other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications
Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Credentials:

Valid NY State Driver License and access to a reliable vehicle

Experience:

Experience in building and grounds maintenance. Basic knowledge of electric and plumbing. Relevant years of experience and education will be considered

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to understand written, oral and computer instruction.

Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, based upon needs of the Agency.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrate ethical business practices, in conformance with all state and federal laws and regulations.

Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in regard to all records reviewed including consumer records, employee records and billing records.

Possession of a valid NYS Driver’s license and a driver's record considered acceptable by agency and insurance carrier.

Continuous use of a reliable, registered and insured vehicle.

Correctly follow procedures for mandated reporting and responding.

Background checks may be required per program regulations.

Ability to demonstrate behaviors and attitudes which support organizational mission, philosophy, and policies.

Ability to work in a cooperative and helpful manner with all individuals.

Willingness and ability to foster agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques.
