About GM
Our vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion. We embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all.
The Role
We are looking for a Staff Program Manager to lead the program execution of GM’s Retail Vehicle Experience within the Digital Products and Infrastructure organization. In this highly cross‑functional and strategic role, you will lead complex, large‑scale software engineering initiatives that directly impact GM’s end‑to‑end digital customer experience. You will partner closely with engineering leadership, product, business and executive stakeholders to translate strategy into delivery. You will shape and operationalize program governance, roadmap execution, dependency management and change management practices to enable responsible, scalable, high‑impact software delivery across the enterprise.
What You’ll Do
Own the successful execution of the Retail Vehicle Experience portfolio, ensuring alignment between strategy, delivery plans and measurable outcomes.
Serve as the primary program manager for director‑level, cross‑functional initiatives, driving feature roadmaps, planning, capacity management, execution rigor and delivery accountability.
Proactively identify, manage and mitigate risks, issues and dependencies across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders; escalate effectively with clear recommendations.
Act as the principal point of escalation for program‑level roadblocks, partnering directly with leaders to drive ownership and resolution.
Ensure accurate and transparent representation of engineering work, capacity and demand within tooling (Jira, Align) to enable data‑driven decision‑making.
Evolve the Retail Experience program organization from a primarily status‑driven model into a results‑oriented execution engine.
Drive accountability and alignment across dependent and cross‑functional teams, including Product, Business, Legal, Purchasing, PMO and IT, with a strong bias toward delivery outcomes.
Provide clear, execution‑focused reporting and insights to stakeholders at all levels, including Engineering Managers, Directors, VPs and the S&S PMO.
Remove systemic barriers and organizational friction impacting engineering productivity and focus.
Champion best practices across software development workflows, program governance, change management and the end‑to‑end engineering lifecycle.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
10+ years of relevant experience in engineering, program management, technical program management or product/program leadership roles.
Demonstrated success leading large‑scale, cross‑functional software engineering programs in complex, matrixed enterprise environments.
Strong ability to influence and drive alignment across engineering, product and business organizations at senior leadership levels.
Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable narratives.
Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities, with a passion for building high‑performing teams and execution cultures.
Deep expertise in program management methodologies (Agile, hybrid, scaled delivery frameworks) and advanced proficiency with tools such as Jira, Align and Confluence.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
MS or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics or a related technical field.
Experience with vehicle commerce related products.
Experience driving digital customer‑facing platforms or large‑scale retail, ecommerce or consumer technology initiatives.
Background working closely with executive stakeholders on portfolio planning, delivery governance and transformation initiatives.
Company Vehicle
Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate.
