Tax Manager - SALT Indirect

The Role
Managers within our State & Local Tax (SALT) practice oversee and deliver indirect tax projects, providing innovative tax planning and consulting services to a diverse client base ranging from Fortune 500 companies to venture-backed startups. This role focuses primarily on sales and use tax, gross receipts tax, and other indirect tax matters across multiple jurisdictions.

Managers Can Expect To

Lead and manage complex indirect tax engagements, including sales and use tax audits, controversy, and refund reviews.

Oversee nexus determinations, taxability analyses, and voluntary disclosure agreements (VDAs) related to indirect taxes.

Determine and analyze sales/use tax liabilities across multi-state and local jurisdictions.

Advise clients on indirect tax implications of business operations, transactions, and supply chain decisions.

Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory developments impacting indirect taxes and proactively communicate implications to clients.

Engage in business development activities (i.e., prepare proposals, present webinars, collaborate across service lines to deliver comprehensive tax solutions).

Identify opportunities for tax savings, process improvements, and risk mitigation related to indirect tax compliance.

Research complex tax issues and prepare detailed technical memoranda and client deliverables.

Maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction, manage expectations, and meet deadlines.

Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate the performance of Seniors and Associates.

The Requirements

4+ years relevant work experience in an accounting firm

Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree; Accounting, Finance, Economics or related degree (Preferred).

Advanced credential allowing for client representation before the Internal Revenue Service required (i.e. CPA or JD).

Self-starter with the initiative to seek out opportunities and ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment; and

Proficient use of technology.

Compensation and Benefits
Our firm offers competitive base compensation, benefits package, and a discretionary employee bonus program for eligible employees based on individual and firm performance metrics per the defined program guidelines. For individuals hired to work in Seattle, the expected salary range for this role is $120,000 - $160,000; the actual salary offer can vary based upon employee qualifications.

We offer paid time off, beginning at 200 hours annually and provides twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
