
Operations Supervisor - Transportation (Supply Chain/Logistics)

Position Summary
Provide operational leadership to individual contributors and hourly workforce to ensure the execution of daily tasks and activities including driver deliveries, loading/unloading of trailers, and customer service operations in a manner consistent with company services and cost objectives.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday 7 pm - 5 am (Flexibility working short staffed/peak season, based on the business needs)
Salary Range and Bonus
Salary range: $70,304 - $83,600K - performance bonus: 12% max.
High‑Level Responsibilities
Transportation Operations Supervisor with strong leadership and communication skills to interact with all levels of associates.
Self‑motivated, capable of making decisions in the moment.
Heavy interaction with customers within the facility.
Coaching, training, incident investigating, and development of CDL Class A drivers and multi‑level team.
Experience with safety, on‑time delivery, and HOS monitoring metrics.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and experience.
Self‑starter, interpersonal, professional, and a team player.
Strong sense of urgency/responsiveness/attention to detail.
Major Responsibilities
People
Ensure supervisors and associates are trained and competent and understand how their work relates to customer business objectives.
Establish performance standards that are specific and measurable.
Interview hourly associates and provide hiring recommendations.
Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards and provide coaching and counseling.
Motivate and engage associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognition.
Operations
Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch, and correct documentation and procedure control.
Conduct team meetings.
Evaluate and recommend changes in work methods to increase dispatch productivity; assist in new associate training.
Provide relief coverage for operational duties when associates take time‑off or are absent.
Know the site’s operating systems to ensure compliance and resolve exceptions.
Complete necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion.
Finance
Ensure compliance with financial policies & procedures such as tracking MPG, returns, damages, etc.
Understand the relationship between decision‑making and profitability.
Manage associates’ working hours to minimize overtime and meet or exceed productivity targets.
Safety
Ensure day‑to‑day management and associate activities align with the location safety strategy.
Provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies and company policies.
Conduct safety observations.
Growth / Customer Experience
Understand the location‑specific customer goals & objectives and work to exceed expectations daily.
Communicate commitment to helping customers meet their objectives.
Identify continual improvement opportunities.
Fleet / Assets
Plan work assignments to ensure effective use of fleet equipment.
Ensure associates understand safe and efficient equipment operation.
Coordinate with vendors to maintain equipment.
Coordinate with Penske Truck Leasing to keep preventative maintenance schedule complete.
Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Job Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership qualities; strong interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with associates, company leadership, and external customers.
Ability to work efficiently and independently with strong time management and organizational skills.
Strong written and oral communication and active listening.
Problem‑solving, critical thinking, and independent decision‑making.

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated ownership & responsibility to run operation with an urgency sense.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.
Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location, complete Penske employment application, background investigation, and drug screening.
