Assistant Instructional Media Producer

The Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL) is accepting applications for an Assistant Instructional Media Producer. As part of the Instructional Media Resources (IMR) team, the Assistant Instructional Media Producer works closely with media producers to create course content consistent with pedagogical and research goals, maintains a strong presence in CITL's media production studios, and may assist with livestreaming events across campus. The Assistant Instructional Media Producer will assist in championing inclusive teaching practices, ensuring diverse perspectives and student needs are reflected in pedagogical strategies and course content.
Duties & Responsibilities
Instructional Media Production
Assist with production of media content for Illinois courses and CITL projects in collaboration with instructors and staff.
Produce and direct in-studio shoots and on-location shoots.
Record and stream single- and multi-camera events across campus.
Efficiently edit videos using the standardized IMR post-production processes.
Collaborate with larger IMR team for post-production, art, and archival support and contribute to long-term strategy for scalable media creation and distribution services.
Assist with development of documentation on instructional media strategies, appropriate uses of instructional media and best practices.
Teaching & Learning Media Support
Respond to faculty and staff requests for media content assistance including distribution logistics and self-recording strategies.
Ensure media content follows appropriate branding, copyright, and accessibility guidelines.
Maintain knowledge of and aptitude for evolving media forms, techniques and applications for education.
Assist with events and workshops to promote collaboration, showcase innovative projects, and celebrate achievements.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Physical Demands
May be asked to move up to 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field to the position.
Two (2) years (24 months) of professional work experience in areas including non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting and composition, camera operation, graphics design, audio recording, video production, or a closely related professional area.
Demonstrated experience working in studio and/or live-event settings operating professional camera and/or audio equipment.
Demonstrated experience in editing, publishing video and/or audio.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in advanced production domains such as lighting design, green screen chromakeying, motion graphics, and 2D/3D animation.
Experience with live switching and/or editing workflows for multi-camera projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of existing and emerging digital media technologies and applications for use in education, especially learning management systems.
Knowledge of instructional principles as applied in media for higher education.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office 365, Generative AI, and multimedia authoring tools.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple initiatives.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5014 - Cinematographer/Creative Video Producer position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The budgeted salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 annually. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
