Position

Special Education Essential Elements Teacher – 1.0 FTE at Pleasant Green Elementary (School). School Year: 2026‑27.
Job Summary

Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher creates a positive learning environment where students develop critical thinking, problem‑solving, and lifelong learning skills. The teacher differentiates curriculum, implements research‑based instruction, and applies Proficiency‑Based Grading.
Required Training and Education

Utah special education teaching license (mild/moderate).
Out‑of‑state special education teaching license.
At least a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university plus an approved Utah Associate License in Special Education.
University enrollment in one of the following in‑state special education programs: Weber State University, University of Utah, Utah State University, Southern Utah State University, Western Governor’s University, Brigham Young University, Westminster College, or Utah Tech University. Must be approved for the Associate Educator License within six months of hire.
Applicants must upload the appropriate documentation: state license, degree copy, AEL eligibility letter, conferral letter, or acceptance letter as applicable.
Essential Functions

Teach core content areas per the Utah State Board of Education’s Core Curriculum.
Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and provide individualized and small‑group instruction.
Use effective teaching techniques to translate lesson plans into productive learning experiences.
Incorporate computers and other technology in instruction.
Supervise students indoors and outdoors, including recess and gym activities in all weather.
Establish and maintain student behavior standards and discipline strategies.
Evaluate student growth, maintain records, and prepare progress reports.
Implement Proficiency‑Based Learning and the Granite Way.
Communicate with parents via conferences, calls, emails, planners, and website.
Collaborate with other professional staff on student growth.
Maintain physical presence, attendance, and timeliness.
Create an attractive learning environment with displays and bulletin boards.
Maintain a safe, supportive classroom and campus environment.
Engage in professional development and in-service education activities.
Participate in faculty meetings, evaluation procedures, and testing.
Assist with faculty committees and student activity sponsorship.
Select and requisition instructional books and materials; maintain inventory records.
Model professional and ethical standards with students, parents, colleagues, and community.
Understand and adhere to laws, district policies, and procedures.
Build effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
Demonstrate professional ethics per the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
Serve as a positive role model.
Required Knowledge and Skills

Physical Demands

Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, lift up to 25 lbs (occasionally 50 lbs), and use hands for handling objects. Vision requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Frequent speaking and hearing required.
Additional Information

Position placed on Lane A‑G, contract length 9 months. FLSA classification: exempt. The description may not contain all possible duties; additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
