Description
The Remediation Department Manager is responsible for the successful vision, strategy, business development, project execution and overall leadership of the Remediation Business Line located in the Great Lakes Region (WI, IL, IN, MI, KY).
This position will lead our Remediation Business Line within the Environmental Services (ENS) Global Practice. The Environmental practice serves private and public market sectors. The position reports directly to the Regional Environmental Global Practice manager and will work closely with Burns & McDonnell leadership to grow the existing environmental remediation services practice in Illinois and nationally.
Specific areas of responsibility include the following:
Ensure quality and safety standards while promoting technical excellence and innovation. Adhere to the Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program.
Maintain the Burns & McDonnell Safety program.
Assist in developing a long‑term strategic plan for the Remediation Business Line across the Great Lakes, identifying, developing, and directing business strategy including operational procedures, marketing, pricing, sales, and customer retention.
Serve as a Client Account Manager for key target clients and provide guidance to existing Client Account Managers/Coordinators responsible for the ultimate delivery of services and client satisfaction.
Create and cultivate key relationships within target client organizations.
Develop client service plans that include vertical relationship plans for target client organizations.
Identify program and project opportunities early and facilitate go
o‑go decisions in cooperation with Great Lakes Regional, ENS practice and Infrastructure leadership.
Facilitate pursuit strategy and capture plan development to pre‑sell projects before RFP release.
Lead or facilitate proposal development, based on client feedback and key win themes for project and strategic pursuits.
Lead risk assessment and mitigation strategies and negotiate contracts for projects after selection.

Attainment of sales, revenue, and income goals for the Remediation Business Line.
Attainment of billable time targets for Remediation staff.
Ability to lead PMs and develop management skills to maximize safety, client satisfaction and profitability on projects.
Growth of the Business Line based on sales, revenue, net income (profitability) and staff size.
Maximize profitability on projects.
Attract, hire, develop, and retain the best people in Burns & McDonnell.
Execute projects meeting or exceeding client expectations for quality, schedule, and budget.
Execute projects in a manner that meets and exceeds internal expectations for quality, schedule, labor/cost budgets, project profitability, safety, and client satisfaction.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, or related field from an accredited program.
Minimum 7 years related professional experience; 12 years preferred.
Previous leadership and/or people management experience is preferable.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
Capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
Previous consulting experience preferred.
Compensation
$140,000.00-360,000.00 Yearly
The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year‑end incentive bonus program.
