The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” the U.S. Army’s premier music organization, announces a vacancy for Supply Technician.

This position is open to Active‑Duty, Reserve, and National Guard military personnel.

The Supply Technician plays a critical role in managing the organization’s supply chain by maintaining accountability for a diverse inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials, including unique items such as musical instruments and uniforms. This position ensures compliance with Army Records Information Management System (ARIMS) policies and uses advanced systems, such as GCSS‑Army, to maintain 100% property accountability. The incumbent performs a variety of administrative, logistical, and customer service duties to support the organization’s mission and ensure operational efficiency.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Establishing and maintaining accurate records of supplies and equipment in compliance with applicable regulations.

Managing the receipt, inspection, documentation, and distribution of incoming supplies.

Processing transactions in GCSS‑Army and other databases.

Preparing hand receipts for issued items.

Performing inventories, resolving discrepancies, and supporting the Property Book Technician in tracking non‑expendable and durable equipment.

Additional Duties Include

Processing AESIP requests and conducting transactions through the Government Purchase Card (GPC) system.

Coordinating with the General Services Administration (GSA) for furniture receipt and distribution.

Managing organizational clothing and equipment (OCIE) using the Installation Support Module (ISM).

Facilitating uniform exchanges, issuing office supplies, and contacting vendors for deliveries or overdue shipments.

Preparing work orders for uniform adjustments and managing mail distribution for supply personnel.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications

This position is open to military candidates at the rank of E-6 or below with less than ten (10) years of service.

Knowledge of supply management techniques, property accountability, logistics, and space management principles.

Familiarity with Army regulations, fiscal laws, and Federal Acquisition Regulations.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and automated systems for supply and property management.

Candidate must have a Secret security clearance.

Have three (3) or more years prior to ETS or willing to reenlist.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with systems such as GCSS‑Army, PIEE, ISSP, GFEBS, FMSWeb, and DST.

Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts, conduct research, and analyze data to improve supply processes.

Ability to train personnel on supply procedures, regulatory compliance, and system operations.

The position requires regular physical exertion, including standing, walking, bending, and reaching, often in warehouse or storage settings. Duties involve occasional carrying of equipment and items weighing over 50 pounds. The incumbent must be able to move and relocate property between warehouse and unit locations and occasionally drive government vehicles within a 50‑mile radius.

The annual starting salary for Staff Sergeant equates to $79,612 without dependents and $86,416 with dependents.

The Blended Retirement System allows you to immediately begin contributing to a retirement account, in addition to being eligible for a pension after 20 years of active duty service.

Education
Earn full tuition for higher education through the Post 9/11 GI Bill. Also, tuition assistance is available for continuing education.

Military Rank
Members of “Pershing’s Own” are given the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) of 42S (forty two sierra), “Special Band Musician”. Personnel are promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) two months after completion of Basic Combat Training.

Location
Permanent duty assignment to Fort Myer, VA, located near the heart of Washington, DC.
