Associate City Attorney (0–2 Years Experience) – Personnel Management Solutions | Michigan
Position Overview
This role offers a well‑rounded legal experience, supporting the City, its officials, and employees across a variety of legal matters including litigation, compliance, and advisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Review and process
FOIA requests
using department systems
Evaluate
damage claims and internal complaints , providing recommendations
Review and authorize
criminal complaints and warrants
(including occasional virtual weekends)
Assist in drafting and reviewing
contracts, ordinances, and resolutions
Provide
legal guidance
to City departments and staff
Support matters in
District Court
Assist with and/or handle
civil, criminal, and administrative litigation
Discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeals
Attend
City board and commission meetings
as legal counsel
Maintain strong working relationships with courts, staff, and the public
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD)
from an accredited law school
Licensed in the State of Michigan
(required)
Valid
Michigan Driver’s License
Strong
research, writing, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Litigation experience is a plus (not required)
