Responsibilities

Assist the principal in administering the procedures, policies and directives of the school board and administration.

Serve as principal in the absence of the regular principal.

Assist in the selection, assignment, supervision and evaluation of staff members.

Provide extensive support and leadership for special education students, staff, and family meetings (TSAT/Child Study).

Assist in the formulation, implementation and communication of school rules and provide leadership in the overall supervision and maintenance of student discipline.

Supervise attendance reporting and recording procedures and assist in the resolution of student attendance/tardy program.

Participate in activities, which help interpret and promote school programs to community constituents.

Supervise and assist in the evaluation of teachers.

Provide direction to teachers regarding curriculum, instruction and assessment.

Support the implementation of strategies for staff and students to realize goals, follow established policies and the delivery and evaluation of curriculum and instruction.

Serve as a liaison to department chairperson, teachers in curriculum implementation and various school committees.

Attend regularly scheduled meetings with district curriculum staff.

Assist in the completion of reports, grant proposals and other written communication.

Maintain a liaison with law enforcement and youth-serving agencies.

Promote key and building security and a positive learning environment.

Supervise after school and evening student functions as assigned.

Assist with the school budgets and make recommendations for appropriate budget expenditures.

Return phone calls and emails within 24 hours.

Perform other duties assigned by the building principal.

Qualifications

Administrative license for K-12 principal required.

Previous experience working with elementary-age students preferred.

Working knowledge of effective teaching, school law, school management, curriculum development and supervision, personnel supervision and contract administration.

Proven leadership in improving student achievement.

Science of Reading.

Knowledge of culturally responsive instruction.

Knowledge of PBIS, MTSS and restorative practices.

Philosophy of education and educational administration compatible with the goals and objectives of the school board.

Demonstrated leadership potential and group process skills.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Conflict management and student discipline skills.

Commitment to equal educational opportunity for all students.

Commitment to people with special needs including students with special needs and students with challenging living conditions.

Capacity for energetic performance and willingness to devote the time needed to accomplish the objectives of this position.

Computer knowledge and skills.

Knowledge of scheduling processes and a willingness to assist in developing a school master schedule.

Positive approach in working cooperatively with parents and community.

Dedication to equity leadership and academic excellence for all.

Documented history of improving student performance.

Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
