Job Description
SHERIDAN SCHOOL DISTRICT

ASSISTANT TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST

Terms of Employment

240 day contract (12 month).

Job Type: Classified.

Reports to: Director of Educational Technology.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.

Salary based on district Classified Salary Schedule for the position.

10 days vacation per year of employment.

12 days sick leave per year of employment.

3 days personal leave per year.

Personal Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Arkansas driver’s license.

Must clear Arkansas State Police, an FBI, and a Central Registry background checks.

Must obtain and keep current all appropriate licenses, permits, and professional credentials to meet the requirements of the position.

Must be able to demonstrate a strong background in technology in the workplace, a strong work ethic, good time-management skills, and paperwork skills.

Expertise in computer operating systems, software, and systems.

Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions, policies, and procedures. Must be able to meet expected deadlines.

Must be attentive to details, a self-starter, able to work effectively without constant or direct supervision. Must be able to multi-task.

Must possess the ability to analyze a problem situation, conduct research to find a solution, and present the best manner to achieve a successful resolution.

Must possess good communication and organizational skills.

Understands the concept of confidentiality and supports guidelines concerning the release of public information.

General Duties / Responsibilities

Assist with all aspects of the school district’s technology operation as needed.

Assist with general maintenance to keep the district running smoothly.

Follow troubleshooting procedures for hardware and software issues.

Assist with technology related requests.

Maintain technical documentation required to support the district needs.

Perform maintenance and support of all equipment as needed or directed.

Serve as a resource person for anyone in the school district who might require technical expertise. Provide information, assistance, and training to staff and students as needed.

Advise the Director of Educational Technology on purchasing and contracting any hardware and/or software necessary to maintain and/or upgrade technology services.

Install district approved software as needed.

Set up technology equipment as needed or directed within the district.

Assist with the maintenance of inventory and perform record keeping functions of hardware locations, assignments, quantities, types and required repairs, including start-up and end-of-year processes.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Educational Technology, Superintendent or designee.

Specific Qualifications and/or Requirements

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of technology devices in a variety of work environments. Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, lift and carry at least 40 lbs.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to read and follow a variety of instructions on district, state, and federal websites as well as hard copy.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondences. Requires the ability to prepare reports, forms, system documentation, etc. using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of grammar.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to give oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must possess the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control, and confidence.

Accessibility: Must be available as emergency needs arise throughout the district.
