The San Diego Unified School District is currently accepting applications for the position of Child Development Center Assistant. This opportunity is open to all interested candidates. This list will be good for one month with the possibility to be extended.

Basic Function
The Child Development Center Assistant provides assistance to the instructional program in classrooms, resource centers, halls, and playgrounds at a Children’s Center, Child Development Center, or State Preschool.
Vacancy / Position Specifics
Various Working Locations:
The District covers a large portion of San Diego County. Refer to the District Area Map at the link and identify any specific area(s) you are interested in working in. The area(s) you identify in your application will be used for any future vacancies filled using the eligibility list from this recruitment.
Work Schedule:
10 months per year / 35 hours per week.
Salary:
This position is paid on the Paraeducator Salary Schedule. Grade 20.
Health Benefits:
Positions 20 hours per week or greater qualify for District-paid health and wellness benefits for the employee and their eligible dependents.
Bilingual Positions:
Vacancies that require bilingual skills will be noted. Candidates considered for positions that require bilingual skills will be invited to a performance test for oral and written fluency. Bilingual positions qualify for a 5% bilingual differential.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
High School diploma/GED and a passing score on the San Diego Unified School District Classroom Assistant Proficiency Exam (CAPE) or an Associate’s degree (or higher) or 48 or more eligible units of coursework at a recognized college or university. Completion of post high school courses in Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Elementary Education, Special Education, or related field is desirable.
NOTE: Your related education and experience must be clearly represented in the work history and education section of your application.
Licenses and Other Requirements
Personal appearance and language patterns will provide a satisfactory example to pupils. Some positions may require conversational and/or written skills in a specific foreign language related to the needs of the assignment.
