Shipping and Receiving Clerk – 1st Shift
Location: Des Plaines, IL
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Overtime may be required based on production needs)
Pay: Starting at $22/hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Clerk to manage incoming and outgoing shipments. This role involves both indoor and outdoor work, including coordinating with drivers and supporting warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies
Track, trace, and update the status of incoming and outgoing shipments
Collaborate with logistics technicians, customer service representatives, and service providers
Maintain a clean, organized, and work-ready environment
Unload trucks, sort, and stock incoming materials promptly
Maintain accurate daily logs, including inventory scanning and inventory counts
Communicate professionally with vendors and drivers
Provide backup support to shipping and receiving operations as needed
Guide truck drivers on-site; role involves approximately 75% outdoor and 25% indoor work
Utilize warehouse and logistics systems such as WMS, TMS, SAP, or Oracle
Lift and move materials weighing 50 lbs or more
Qualifications & Skills
Experience scanning and sorting incoming and outgoing stock
Proficiency in receiving, stocking, stacking, picking, packing, and loading materials
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent time management and sense of urgency
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Requirements
2–3 years of shipping and receiving experience
Ability to read and write in English
Dependable, responsible, and willing to assist as needed
