The Zero Waste Coordinator supports the planning, development, execution, and evaluation of zero waste strategies across the Wexner Medical Center. Working closely with the Sustainability Program Manager, this position helps guide efforts to divert 50% of solid waste from landfills by 2030 through recycling, composting, reuse, waste reduction, and improved materials handling.This role strengthens operational performance by coordinating programs that reduce waste, improve diversion outcomes, enhance infrastructure, and engage staff across clinical and non‐clinical areas. The Zero Waste Coordinator provides analysis, coordination, field support, and problem‐solving that contribute to safe, efficient, and effective waste‐related processes throughout the medical center.The position involves regular movement across various areas of the medical center to support waste audits, program rollouts, events, infrastructure reviews, and other operational activities. **Position Summary** This position coordinates, monitors, and supports existing zero waste programs while also developing and implementing modifications to improve program effectiveness. Coordinate the implementation of existing programs including but not limited to: Zero Waste Event Services; waste diversion performance tracking and data analysis, and internal media messaging. Provide support and coordination in numerous areas including waste characterization studies and waste audits, outreach and engagement planning, signage development and standardization, infrastructure monitoring and improvements, building design standards recommendations, organics diversion planning, grant writing, identifying outlets for hard-to-recycle materials, and business case development for new projects. The Zero Waste Coordinator researches and maintains working knowledge of best practices of zero waste efforts in the areas of circular economy, waste reduction, organics diversion, recycling, and diversion of hard-to-recycle items.
Recruits and manages interns and students to perform research or work on sustainability related projects. **Minimum Qualifications** **For Hire:**Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. **Required Qualifications**Two (2) years relevant or equivalent experience in 1 or more of the following fields: sustainability/environmental stewardship/ green buildings/waste minimization and recycling.## Additional Information:## Location:Ackerman Rd, 660 (0242)## Position Type:Regular## Scheduled Hours:40## **Shift:**First Shift***Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check.
