SUMMARY
The Assistant Warehouse Manager works with the Warehouse Manager supervising the warehouse and delivery operations to ensure that the warehouse is set up appropriately to distribute building materials product to our customers in the most timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate and work effectively with customers, management, dispatcher, other employees and vendors.
Lead by example, assisting with managing warehouse staff while promoting a collaborative, motivating work environment.
Ensure that safe and efficient practices are followed by all warehouse staff.
Provide and ensure, staff also provide a high level of service to customers waiting for materials.
Work with and provide direction and supervision to warehouse staff.
Oversee the receipt and storage of new stock and the accurate picking and loading of materials for delivery.
Assist Warehouse Manager with the coordination and scheduling of people, vehicles and equipment required to efficiently meet delivery requirements.
Work with the Warehouse Manager to maintain excellent physical condition of warehouse and yards.
Assist with training new staff and maintaining compliance with all local, state and federal requirements, and enforce adherence to all requirements including:
Inspect all vehicles bi-weekly and give report to the Warehouse Manager on Friday of inspecting week.
Oversee and maintain fleet needs and repairs (report to Warehouse Manager all repairs and timetable).
Oversee and maintain driver paperwork (month-end reporting).
Monitor all vehicle accident reports to make sure they are completed.
Monitor forklift inspections, and report and discuss all repairs with the Warehouse Manager.
Handle administrative and supervisory responsibilities.
Follow up on daily projects delegated (discuss completed tasks, tasks not complete, or any with issues).
Maintain lists for forklifts; active trucks in fleet; warehouse radios; cell phones updated and current with Warehouse Manager.
Oversee and facilitate utility van usage.
Assist with other warehouse work including loading, unloading, cleaning and maintaining the warehouse and yards.
Direct and assist staff to lift and carry building materials product by hand weighing up to 100 pounds.
May assist with deliveries to customer job sites, as needed.
Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
CUSTOMER SERVICE & TECHNOLOGY INTERACTION
Provide personalized customer service through direct, over the phone and/or in-person conversations.
Communicate with managers, other employees, customers and vendors.
Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor in all interactions, both in-person and via technology.
Handle customer feedback and complaints efficiently, ensuring customer satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3-5 years of related work experience and/or training in commercial distribution, including group leader or supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid driver's license is preferred.
Forklift and/or Moffett experience are preferred.
Excellent knowledge of and adherence to traffic laws and road safety regulations.
Ability to interpret and operate GPS and other navigation tools.
Strong communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to lift and carry building materials product by hand weighing up to 100 pounds.
Knowledge of building materials product is preferred.
Ability to perform accurate, timely and detailed work.
Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Strong basic math skills which include the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
