
Senior Bridge Construction Inspector

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Bridge Construction Inspector to help oversee new, replacement, or rehabilitated structures with construction values ranging from $1‑$50 million. This position can be based out of Portland, Augusta or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH.
The inspector will oversee various work elements including excavation, backfilling, compaction, cast‑in‑place concrete from formwork to reinforcement, installation of precast elements, bridge seats, bearings, and joints, bridge rail, drainage, and other incidental items. The inspector will report to the resident engineer, and may routinely or periodically act as their representative, depending on experience.
Your Impact
Interfacing with contractors and attending meetings.
Mentoring or supervising other inspectors on behalf of the resident engineer or project manager.
Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
Coordinate independent material sampling and testing.
Monitor maintenance of traffic.
Take and compile photographs for tracking of daily progress.
Help update red‑line drawings using Bluebeam.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma
9 years applicable experience
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications
Have a valid driver's license
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field
ACI or NETTCP certifications, or ability to attain within 3‑months of hiring
Average proficiency with MS Word Suite
Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems. Knowledge of Bluebeam
Demonstrated supervisory skills
Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered
