Job Description
IREN is seeking a
Piping Engineer / Technologist
to support the development of hyperscale data center projects in the Texas and Oklahoma region. This role provides technical leadership and governance for cooling and fluid distribution systems, including chilled water infrastructure and direct‑to‑chip (DLC) liquid cooling systems. The ideal candidate has strong experience in design oversight, standards compliance, technical risk management and lifecycle assurance, from conceptual design through operational readiness.

Job Responsibilities
Mechanical and piping design reviews across all project phases, ensuring chilled water and DLC systems meet owner standards for reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
Partner with design consultants, contractors, and equipment vendors to resolve technical issues, evaluate alternates, and proactively manage mechanical system risks.
Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (ASME, ASTM, MSS, FSA, AWS, MFMA, SEI/ASCE) and verify proper incorporation into consultant specifications and contractor execution.
Participate in site inspections, review testing activities, and validate installation quality, materials compliance, and support/seismic systems.
Support system flushing, testing, and functional performance verification, and ensure complete, high‑quality turnover documentation to operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
5‑7 years of piping design experience in industrial, manufacturing, energy, or mission‑critical facilities
Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Plant 3D, Revit, CADWorx, or similar)
Strong understanding of piping components, materials, supports, design and fabrication practices
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and construction documents
Experience performing clash detection and interdisciplinary coordination
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting large‑scale industrial or HPC/data center infrastructure projects
Familiarity with pipe stress considerations and support design principles
Construction support experience including field walkdowns and as‑built updates
Knowledge of BIM coordination processes
Work Environment & Travel
Hybrid office and site‑based work in the DFW area
Periodic site visits required during construction phase
Other Important Requirements
Pre‑employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies
Must provide own steel‑toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied
Must be able to reliably commute to the work site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work
