Graduate Intern - Parks Landscape Architecture

Position Overview
We are looking to hire an intern for the summer and possibly ongoing during the academic year. The successful candidate will provide design and research support for SPR's Engineering, Design, and Technical Services Unit in the implementation of planning projects and capital improvement projects. Interns will be supervised by a senior landscape architect to learn and receive on‑the‑job training.

The full‑time internship will begin between mid‑June and early July, and mid‑September 2026. Interns will work 40 hours per week, a hybrid remote/in‑office schedule. If the internship continues into the academic year the schedule will be reduced to 20 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities

General design support

Technical research, reports, and presentation of findings

Participate in on‑the‑job training and professional development activities

Serve as part of a citywide intern cohort and attend departmental and city training opportunities and events

Required Qualifications

Enrolled in a Master of Landscape Architecture program at an accredited institution.

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

General knowledge of design, graphics, and drafting.

Ability to communicate technical information effectively verbally and in writing with coworkers and supervisory staff.

Must pass a background check.

May be asked to work weekends and evenings.

Must have a current WA driver’s license or proof of equivalent mobility; frequent travel within the city is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Education or experience in GIS, planning, sustainability focus, or environmental engineering.

Compensation and Benefits
Hourly rate: $27.67 – $27.67. This is a temporary, non‑benefited position that will last throughout the summer, with the possibility of continuing at a reduced schedule during the academic year.
