Job Description
The Systems Engineer will focus on supporting unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft platforms and unmanned ground vehicles. The successful candidate will develop requirements, create system design documentation, utilize and maintain existing analytical models, develop new models, and plan and conduct tests to validate requirements. The role involves engaging in all phases of the project, from definition through design and testing, with a true cradle-to-grave approach.
Responsibilities
Analyze customer and stakeholder requirements, decompose and derive requirements, and allocate them to system and subsystem elements.
Develop system architecture for new and existing systems.
Conduct trade studies and perform design research to determine optimal requirements and system architecture.
Develop test plans, test cases, and reports based on requirements documentation.
Develop system and subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation.
Lead and conduct testing as applicable.
Work in adherence to structured and defined development processes.
Collaborate with the Software Engineering Team to develop software system requirements and test requirements.
Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer definitions.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
5 – 7 years of industry experience, with openness to 3–5 years in Round Rock, Oklahoma City, or Sacramento due to additional training resources.
A U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher, or the ability to obtain such clearance.
Experience developing system requirements and architecture in conjunction with an engineering team.
Strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and capability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Technical leadership capabilities.
Experience in the Defense and/or Aerospace industry is required.
Experience in aircraft is required; experience in unmanned aircraft is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Self‑directed with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
Experience with operational test execution, exposure to schematics.
Familiarity with tools like DOORS, Atlassian, and requirements management software.
Understanding of hardware‑in‑the‑loop and software‑in‑the‑loop environments.
Experience with software and subsystems integration.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Round Rock, TX.
Pay and Benefits
Pay range: $60.00 – $95.00/hr.
