Position Summary
The Operations Assistant supports daily warehouse operations for the community market and related programs. This role focuses on maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse while working collaboratively with staff and volunteers to sort, stock, and distribute food. Additionally this role assists with food shelf events, food drives, sorting groups, and other programming. The ideal candidate is dependable, people-friendly, and comfortable working in an active warehouse environment.
Responsibilities
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly warehouse environment
Work alongside volunteers to sort, organize, and stock food for the food market
Sweep and mop warehouse floors at the end of each shift
Assist with food drives, food sorting groups, produce drops, and other programs as assigned
Load, unload, and move food items within the warehouse
Pick up food rescue, purchases, and donations as needed
Follow food safety, cleanliness, and organizational standards at all times
Requirements & Qualifications
Forklift certification, or willingness to obtain
Ability to lift, carry, and move food items and supplies
Comfortable working in a warehouse setting
Flexible and willing to assist with a variety of tasks as needed
Strong people skills; able to work well with volunteers, staff, and community members
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
Commitment to teamwork and supporting the mission of the organization
Preferred Skills
Previous warehouse, food pantry, or nonprofit experience
Experience working with volunteers
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
