Mechanical Lab Engineer New Spanish Fork, Utah, United States
LiveView Technologies Inc., Spanish Fork, UT, United States
ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a Mechanical Lab Engineer at LVT, you will sit at the intersection of design and reality. You will be the primary steward of our Mechanical Lab, ensuring our prototyping environment is optimized for rapid innovation. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will apply foundational engineering principles to support prototype builds, execute critical testing, and manage sustaining engineering activities. This is a high-impact role for a hands‑on problem solver who is ready to transition from conceptual CAD designs to tangible, field‑ready hardware.
This role is based in‑office out of our facility in Spanish Fork, Utah, to facilitate daily lab management and physical hardware collaboration.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Lab Stewardship:
Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Mechanical Lab, including equipment maintenance, organization, and 3D printer fleet management.
Prototype Assembly:
Lead and support the physical build‑out of prototype units, ensuring components are integrated correctly and providing feedback on "design for assembly."
Rigorous Testing:
Execute standardized mechanical tests and basic analysis to validate sub‑system performance against established requirements.
Sustaining Engineering:
Support ongoing product improvements by debugging simple mechanical issues and documenting design iterations.
CAD Documentation:
Utilize 3D modeling software to design small features, promote Proof of Concepts (POCs), and maintain accurate engineering documentation.
Technical Writing:
Compose clear, concise test reports and assembly instructions with minimal supervision to ensure cross‑functional alignment.
Project Coordination:
Determine the scope of individual efforts up to a week in advance, ensuring lab tasks align with broader departmental project timelines.
Collaborative Problem Solving:
Work closely with senior team members to identify and mitigate design risks while learning LVT’s complex mechanical architecture.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
Technical Foundation:
Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a strong grasp of core mechanical design concepts.
Hands‑on Aptitude:
Highly proficient with general shop tools and comfortable troubleshooting hardware in a physical lab environment.
3D Printing Expert:
Experience operating and maintaining 3D printers to produce high‑quality functional prototypes.
CAD Proficiency:
Experience with 3D modeling software is required; specific experience with
Creo
is strongly preferred.
Detail Oriented:
An organized thinker who takes pride in maintaining a clean, efficient lab and producing precise technical documentation.
Continuous Learner:
Eager to receive direction from senior engineers and rapidly apply foundational skills to complex, real‑world problems.
Execution‑Minded:
Able to follow established procedures and guidelines while proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Effective Communicator:
Can clearly articulate how design decisions impact sub‑system performance and collaborate effectively across the engineering team.
BENEFITS
We believe you do your best work when your whole life is supported. We invest in our crew’s health, families, and financial futures with a benefits package designed to support you inside and outside the office.
