Job Description
Minimum bachelor's degree required. Valid Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsement required. Appropriate endorsements would include 001, 101, 120, 401, 402, and 499. Requires at least three years' successful teaching experience.
This position is for the 2026-2027 school year.
Job Summary
The Elementary Instructional Coach is responsible for providing curriculum support to teachers and support staff district-wide through staff training, consultation, and communication to elevate instruction to positively impact student achievement.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct model lessons in the areas of mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, or Social Studies.
Meet with teachers, data coordinators, and other stakeholders to review data and plan for instruction.
Support teachers with the development of unit plans and lesson plans.
Support teachers in the creation of common formative assessments to determine mastery of grade-level standards.
Help plan and coordinate staff development with topics and presenters.
As requested by teacher or principal, work with individual teachers or educational assistants to provide intervention strategies and/or curriculum planning.
Work with principals and teacher committees to organize and coordinate grade-level and departmental meetings.
Assist with K-12 textbook adoptions, which may involve physical lifting.
Perform other duties requested by principals, supervisors, or director of schools.
Minimum Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in education or a closely related field.
Three years of successful teaching experience strongly preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications
Valid Tennessee teaching certificate endorsed to teach elementary curriculum.

Knowledge of
Instructional strategies for elementary core subject areas.
Formative, summative, and diagnostic assessments to inform instruction.
Child development principles and student learning needs across multiple grade levels.
Curriculum standards and academic benchmarks as defined by the Tennessee Department of Education.
Behavior management techniques that support a productive learning environment.
Skill in
Supporting teachers and other professionals in improving instructional delivery of materials.
Interpreting academic data to guide instructional decisions.
Communicating effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
Using educational technology platforms to support instruction and monitor student progress.
Ability to
Build rapport with diverse stakeholder populations.
Support educators in adapting instructional approaches based on student responses and needs.
Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and support personnel.
Maintain accurate records and prepare progress documentation.
Model professional behavior and maintain confidentiality.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs. Other physical demands may include pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping and/or kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing.
Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing tasks efficiently; dealing with students; generalizing, evaluating, or making decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria.
Ability to understand instructions and underlying principles; reason and make judgments; understand meanings of words and ideas; perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately; manipulate small objects; make visual comparisons; perceive differences in colors or shapes.
Low to medium discomfort due to exposure to temperature, fumes, dirt, dust, noise, cleaning chemicals.
Normal working environment.
