JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of company equipment primarily used in a job site setting where the construction of overhead and underground telecommunication lines is being performed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or its equivalent
2 years of experience related to the operation of heavy equipment used in utility construction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current First Aid / CPR Card or willingness / ability to obtain.
Advanced knowledge of OSHA requirements applicable to equipment operations, repair and maintenance is needed.
Must be a member of the union that has jurisdiction over job site location.
Valid commercial driver's license and current DOT medical exam card or willingness / ability to obtain.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Ability to work successfully as part of a team as well as independently on occasion.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to emergency situations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates heavy machinery, which is typically used in utility construction, including but not limited to the following: overhead and underground telecommunication lines, tractor, bulldozer, backhoe, forklift, or excavator – excludes operation of cranes. Employee may be subject to operating machines within a construction site that includes gas transmission and distribution pipelines, electric power transmission and distribution lines, and electric substations.
Responsible for inspecting and greasing equipment daily and ensuring equipment is safe and ready for operations. Coordinates needed repairs with Foreman and mechanics.
Assists with the requisitioning, handling, and transporting of materials, equipment, and small hand tools used by crews in the daily construction utilities. This work is performed from the ground and during timeframes when the operation of equipment is not needed.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Wage is per the Montana Communications contract. IBEW Locals 206, 532, 768 | Pay Range is based on experience $26.64 - $33.22.
Benefits are tied to union membership.

Retirement plan contribution of 6% of earnings. Retirement plan contribution is not a match; contribution occurs in the absence of employee contribution to retirement plan.
