
LabX System Administrator

Key Responsibilities
System Ownership & Administration
Serve as the platform SME for LabX (Balance, Titration, pH, Density, etc.).
Configure and maintain LabX workflows, methods, user roles, and instrument profiles.
Manage system upgrades, patches, hotfixes, and compatibility validation.
Oversee user provisioning, access controls, and security groups.
Maintain system configuration documentation, change logs, and audit trails.
GxP Compliance & Data Integrity
Ensure LabX is operated in alignment with 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, ALCOA+ principles, and internal SOPs.
Maintain validated state of the system through change control, periodic review, and deviation management.
Support internal and external audits; provide evidence packages and system walkthroughs.
Develop and maintain SOPs, WI, and job aids for LabX usage and administration.
Instrument Integration & Technical Support
Configure and maintain connections between LabX and:
Balances, titrators, pH meters, density meters, refractometers
LIMS/ELN/SDMS platforms
Networked printers and secure file shares
Troubleshoot instrument communication issues, method failures, and data transfer errors.
Partner with vendors (Mettler Toledo, IT infrastructure teams) to resolve complex issues.
Workflow & Method Development
Build, optimize, and validate LabX methods for QC and R&D workflows.
Collaborate with scientists and analysts to translate lab procedures into LabX logic.
Implement automation and standardization to reduce manual transcription and variability.
Lifecycle Management & Continuous Improvement
Own the LabX roadmap: upgrades, new modules, integrations, and enhancements.
Lead system performance monitoring, capacity planning, and risk assessments.
Drive harmonization across sites and labs to ensure consistent configuration.
Training & Cross Functional Collaboration
Provide Tier 2/3 support to analysts, supervisors, and lab managers.
Deliver training for new users, super users, and system administrators.
Partner with QA, IT, Validation, and Lab Operations to ensure alignment and compliance.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field.
5–8+ years supporting laboratory informatics systems in regulated environments.
3+ years hands on experience with Mettler Toledo LabX (administration or configuration).
Technical Skills
Deep knowledge of LabX configuration, method building, and instrument integration.
Strong understanding of:
GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, Annex 11
Data integrity and audit trail requirements
CSV/CSA methodologies
Experience with:
Windows Server administration
Managing LabX instances in AWS.
Networking fundamentals (firewalls, ports, service accounts)
LIMS/ELN/SDMS integration concepts
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Ability to translate lab needs into technical solutions.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis mindset.
Comfortable leading cross functional initiatives and training sessions.
Preferred Qualifications
LabX Server, LabX Direct, LabX Titration
Empower, LabWare LIMS, SampleManager, or other lab informatics systems
GAMP 5, risk based validation, and CSA approaches
Prior experience in pharma, biotech, medical device, or regulated manufacturing.
