Role Summary
The Team Leader Operations at CP is a hands‑on, working leader responsible for overseeing the safety, quality, and efficiency of a production shift within the Operations department. The role has a particular focus on managing and troubleshooting automated systems, including Scada Systems, batch processing and other ancillary equipment. The Team Leader is a key driver of continuous improvement, working to optimise both manual and automated processes to meet and exceed production targets. You will be required to leverage digital tools like Digital Twin, predictive analytics to improve the performance and overall efficiency of the manufacturing systems.
Responsibilities
Safety and Compliance
Enforce all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations.
Lead safety initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and ensure a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
Report and investigate all safety incidents and near misses, driving corrective and preventive actions.
Production and Quality Control
Ensure the production of high‑quality products on time and in full, adhering to all quality standards.
Monitor production metrics, including output, cycle times, and scrap rates, and take immediate action to address any deviations.
Perform regular quality checks on products and work with the Quality Assurance team to resolve defects and conduct root cause analysis.
Ensure all production documentation and reports are accurately completed.
Team Leadership and Management
Lead, mentor, and train a team of batch‑making operators and technicians on shift.
Assign daily tasks and manage workflow to ensure production schedules are met.
Conduct shift handovers, providing clear communication on production status, issues and upcoming requirements.
Provide feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and address disciplinary issues in accordance with company policy.
Process Improvement
Drive continuous improvement projects on the shop floor, focusing on enhancing safety, reducing waste and improving efficiency (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S).
Identify and propose improvements to automation processes and equipment to increase productivity and reduce manual labour.
Analyse production data to identify trends and opportunities for optimisation.
Required Qualifications
Education
– B.E / BTECH (Mechanical/Electrical) with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Experience
Proven experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with a shop‑floor role in maintenance, production and CI.
Demonstrated experience with industrial automation, including robotics, PLCs and vision systems.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of batch processing, machine operation and troubleshooting.
Proficiency in setting up and adjusting pumps, valves and ancillary equipment.
Hands‑on experience with automated systems, including basic programming and troubleshooting.
Leadership and Communication
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively lead a diverse team and interact with cross‑functional departments (Maintenance, Quality, Engineering).
Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities to address complex technical and operational challenges.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and make quick, data‑driven decisions.
