About You and This Role
Dow is seeking the next

Analytical/Environmental Technician

to support our site in

Greensburg, LA . As the Analytical/Environmental Technician, you support manufacturing operations through laboratory analyses and evaluation of results to provide critical data to units and for quality product release. This role will include sample preparation, basic calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and methods. You possess broad technical skills in analytical/scientific methods or operational processes to perform a wide variety of lab related activities.

Responsibilities

Perform routine analyses including but not limited to Melt Index, IR, Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography, Titration, Film Extrusion, etc.

Prepare standards including internal standards, calibration standards, & check standards

Perform basic preventative maintenance of instruments

Evaluate validity of data, applying basic statistics, and interpreting results

Monitoring analytical systems to identify potential problems and conducting first‑line troubleshooting escalating as appropriate.

Document, communicate and archive analytical results and calibration data.

Follow Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Operating Discipline Management System (ODMS) procedures and practices for work tasks.

Raw material confirmation testing, collect and test water/environmental samples, and coordinate with 3rd party lab for permit samples.

Suggest improvements to lab work processes and tools.

Escalate non-routine requests to appropriate team members for follow‑up.

Outside responsibilities include minor maintenance and operational tasks such as; turning/operating valves, cleaning filters, cleaning flowmeters, cleaning probes, unplugging lines, setting up for freeze protection when needed, and troubleshooting equipment issues (pumps).

Required Qualifications

A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED

and one or more

of the following:

Associate’s degree or higher in chemistry or science related field.

2 or more years of laboratory or environmental tech experience.

3 years of relevant military experience.

Must be able to work a 12‑hour day shift & holidays as well as providing necessary overtime coverage. This role rotates out between inside lab analytical and outside based on shift rotation.

A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in a plastics laboratory.

Prior experience with LIMS or other laboratory management systems.

Prior experience with Gas Chromatography, Liquid Chromatography or Gel Characterization.

Physical Requirements

Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel‑toed shoes.

Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting to 50 pounds.

Stand or walk for extended periods of time.

Lift up to 50 lb. chemical bags to pour into ponds.

Climb ~ 15 ft. ladder up a clarifier at minimum of 5 times per shift when assigned to outside role.

Work during inclement weather conditions which includes still making 5 pond rounds per day even in the heat of summer or freezing temperatures.

– Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure accurate results.

– Review test data for accuracy and clearly document and report results.

– Identify issues with tests or equipment and take appropriate action or elevate when needed.

Safety & Compliance Awareness

– Follow safety procedures and work practices to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
